Mid-Skip Post!

Katina's first priorities after the initial clean-up were recovering (a little more than a week) and then making sure her family knew that she had been one of the survivors. Her mom had been in hysterics and her brother had to skip work for a few days after hearing about the base without hearing from Katina, so she got some lip for not calling sooner. She then turned her attentions back to the EDF - she was one of the few remaining officers, so she was able to work her way into some of the more involved recovery work, doing what little she could to keep outside forces away from actually affecting policy and applying for promotion to captain as soon as possible, reasoning that her experience both with the EDF and with regular soldiers would be invaluble. Also, the pay raise would be nice.

Of course, she wasn't going to neglect her more mundane duties - including bossing everyone around, kicking people in the rear to get training harder, and most importantly being a pilot. Unfortunately, the unique 'special' machines had taken precedence, since things like Gurren Lagann were symbols and kicked way more ass than any old Gespenst... so her poor baby languished in a spare hangar for nearly two months in numerous pieces. Why some had been found on the opposite side of the hangar from where she'd had it she'd never know. She'd been unsuccessful in getting people to pay it any attention, but as the pieces were picked up and the fancy pants mecha fixed, she managed to round up a few of the EDF's more familiar mechanics, and was just about ready to have it fixed.
First though...

Hey Zoe! I have some things to talk about.

It's mech-related. Which should get her attention faster than any official orders...
