Grades... grades... god, figuring out grades was annoying. Of course all the athletes got top marks, no problem, and the blatant slackers were easy enough to grade but the ones in between... what counted as enough participation for an A? Twenty years on the job wouldn't be enough to figure that out. Why even grade it? Wasn't giving kids a chance to get in shape the point of the class? As long she was keeping a bunch of teenagers from turning into blobs, Katina could care less whether or not they deserved an A or a B.
She took a break, cracking open a bottle of sports drink. "Maybe I'll just... put it off for Sunday night..." There was a family get together coming up on Saturday at her parents, just her, the two of them, her brother and his family. After she'd taught another session of the self-defense class she'd gotten started downtown... and worked out the new dribbling practice routine for the soccer team... when did her life get so hectic?
Her eyes wandered to a photo on her desk from last year - her and her dad smiling, a photo taken hastily in the chaos after the soccer team she helped coach won the state championships. Even if he didn't know much about soccer - she was the one who'd played in college after all - his general life advice always seemed to help. Maybe he could help her with her newest problem now. "Don't know what I'd do without you dad..."
[This is open for anyone in the GDF to tag with a Katina's-universe version of themselves. Obviously, you're either a fellow teacher bugging her in her office for something, or a student with a questions, or maybe one of her team members seeking advice, or even a student teacher she's training. If age-related issues seem like a problem... handwave 'em.]
